This is a black beetle with yellow blotches on its elytra. It is about 1/4th of an inch long. It was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide.Net.

This beetle is found on redbud trees. We would expect it to be reasonably common at Fontenelle Forest.

Larvae are believed to pupate in the fall and adults are found in the spring.
