This is a yellow and black beetle. Its body is elongate soft and flattened. It is about ½ inch long. The pronotum is straight or concave and does not conceal the head as in other members of this family. This beetle was identified by Belov a volunteer at Bugguide.net

 

This beetle was found on arrowleaf along South Stream trail. It is commonly found on foliage.

 

This is one of the largest genera in this family. Many species of this genus feed on aphids or other soft-bodied insects as well as on nectar and pollen.
