STRIPED CUCUMBER BEETLE

This is a black and yellow striped beetle that is black underneath. It is about 5 mm long (about ¼ of an inch). It was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide.net.

 

This beetle is found on a variety of plants but favors members of the cucumber family. This one was photographed on a serviceberry in front of the nature center. Its overall occurrence in Fontenelle Forest is not known.

 

The larvae and adults of these beetles can damage cucumbers, squash, etc.
