YELLOW SPOTTED LADY BEETLE

LADY BEETLES (Coccinellidae)

This beetle is small (1/10 to 1/6th of an inch). It is boldly patterned and brightly colored . It is mostly black with orange spots. It was identified to genus with the help of experts at Bugguide.net.

 

This beetle was photographed in June on milkweed in Childs Hollow. Its overall occurrence in Fontenelle Forest is not known.

 

Species of this genus are separated mainly by their color patterns.
