The Angulose Prominent caterpillar grows to 1.75 inches. It is lime green or sometimes pinkish red in the fall. The head is bright green, smooth and as broad as the thorax. The pink and white spiracular stripe continues along the body and across the head and face. There are double white dorsal stripes. There is a large white thoracic spiracle ringed with black. The adult moth is gray with a dull whitish patch in the median area. The antemedial and postmedial lines are double and black. The hindwing is whitish with gray veins.

 

The frequency of occurrence is unknown. The individual shown here was photographed in Fontenelle Forest in early October.

 

The larval foodplants are oaks. The pupa overwinters in soil.
