Anomodon attenuatus
(Anomodontraceae)

This moss forms large, lush cushions. The cupped leaves become smaller towards the tips of the stalks, i.e. they attenuate, which reflect the “attenuatus” in its species name. Identified with the help of Bill Zales.

This species is considered uncommon in Fontenelle Forest. The images were of a cushion on a north-facing slope not far up Signal Ridge Trail.
