This bee is approximately 3/8” to 1/2” in length. It is entirely metallic green. A distinguishing feature for this genus is the angled, metallic green tegula. The thorax and abdomen are covered with short, light-colored hair. The abdomen has bicolored black and light green bands at the segments. The antennae are black. The wings are clear brown.

The frequency of occurrence is not known. It was photographed in mid-summer in Fontenelle Forest.

Adults take nectar and pollen from flowers and also aphid’s honeydew. There are 3 species in this genus (Augochloropsis) in North America.
