This treehopper, about 3/8th of an inch long (9 mm), is one of many in the family that look very similar. This one was identified with the help of expert volunteers at BugGuide. These mostly green treehoppers mimic small leaves. They suck the juices from a variety of plants and lay their eggs in slits cut into the soft plant tissue.
This particular species is not that common in Fontenelle Forest. But they are easily overlooked, so there may be more of them than reported.
This treehopper prefers the sap of willow trees.
