This is a small red beetle with black bands on the elytra. The elytra are wide and flattened. It ranges from 1/10 to2/5ths of an inch (2.5-14mm).
This beetle was found at Neale Woods at lights during mothing. Its overall occurrence at Fontenelle Forest is not known. During the summer this beetle is active among foliage and flowers. It is often found on the ground.
This beetle belongs to the tribe lebiini or colorful foliage ground beetles. Adults feed on plant lice and other insects.
