BEAUTIFUL SPARGANOTHIS

The Beautiful Sparganothis has a wingspan of 5/8 inch. The forewing is yellow with a rust-colored median band and an incomplete ante-median line. There is a yellow semi-circular patch along the costa. The hindwings are white. The labial palps are long.

 

The frequency of occurrence in Fontenelle Forest is not known. The individual shown here was photographed coming to artificial lights during the 2014 Fontenelle Forest Bioblitz in early June.

 

The larvae are leafrollers. Adults fly from April through June.
