The Bicolored Pyrausta has a wingspan of about 5/8 to 3/4 inch. The golden yellow forewing and hindwing have a wide brownish-purple band beyond the wavy postmedian line.

 

The frequency of occurrence at Fontenelle Forest is not known. It has been photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in mid-August 2015. Adult moths fly from June to September.

 

The larval host is unknown.
