This is a black beetle that is about 3/8 of an inch long.

 

This beetle was found on thistle at the Knull Prairie at Neale Woods. Its overall occurrence at Fontenelle Nature Centers is not known. It eats grasses but is often found on other plants.

 

Diabrotica is a widespread genus of beetles in the family Chrysomelidae. Members of this genus include several destructive agricultural pest species.
