This small frog rarely reaches an inch in length. They have a warty skin of variable color. Their lower legs have narrow, dark bands. The frogs in these images were identified to species with the help of Dan Fogell, a local expert on amphibians.

This frog species is very wary and not often seen in Fontenelle Forest. Its voice is a series of clicks, like two stones tapped together, getting faster but slowing down again towards the end. They are usually found in shallow water or wet ditches.
