Camel crickets are generally brown with spots and stripes. They have a humped back, sturdy spiked legs and long antennae. Crickets in this genus are very difficult to identify and are thus left identified at the genus level.

These crickets are common in this area but are rarely seen because of their secretive habits.

Ceuthophilus crickets have varied diets and have been described as omnivores and scavengers. They will eat almost anything.
