5 inches long. The Cape May Warbler has a yellow breast with relatively heavy black stripes. The breeding male has a yellow face with a reddish colored face patch. He also has a thick white patch in the wing. The female has two white wing bars. Her colors are more muted and she does not have a face patch.
The Cape May Warbler is very uncommonly seen in Omaha. and is rarely seen in Fontenelle Forest
The Cape May Warbler breeds across the boreal forest of Canada and the northern United States. It will aggressively defend its breeding territory and will sometimes drink nectar from a feeder which it collects with its semi-tubular tongue.
