Grasshoppers / Katydids / Crickets
The order Orthoptera includes many large, well-known insects, many of which produce sounds. It includes the grasshoppers, the katydids and the crickets. All go through a simple metamorphosis with many of the younger members (nymphs) going through stages called instars.
