Spider Wasps
Spider Wasps are solitary hunting wasps, paralyzing a victim with its sting. The female drags the helpless spider to her burrow, cavity or mud cell (depending on species) as food for a single offspring. Some species of spider wasps visit aphid colonies for the honeydew secreted by those insects. Other species take nectar from flowers. There are about 290 species of spider wasps in North America.
