This erect perennial invasive plant has three leaflets on stiff stems (A) which are “shrubby” at the base. The pale white and purple flowers are clustered from the leaf axils, some of them never open (B).

This plant was seen about a decade ago at the same location along South Stream Trail in Fontenelle Forest. Because it is considered invasive, it had been destroyed, only to emerge again in September 2013. If seen, plants of this species should be destroyed.
