CLEARWING MOTH FAMILY (Sesiidae)

Description
Some of the clearwing borers, also called clearwing moths are difficult to identify – even the experts differ, especially if they only have images and not a specimen in hand. They are lumped here temporarily until we get a firmer handle on their identification. These moths have few scales on their wings, making them transparent. Image “A” is of a clearwing borer which has been identified by volunteer experts at BugGuide as Carmenta ithacea. Image “B”, another clearwing moth, has also been identified as Carmenta ithacea.
