This native perennial vine grows to 15 feet long and can completely cover shrubs and other vegitation (D). The heart-shaped leaves are found on twining, often reddish stems (C). The small, greenish-white flowers are clustered on short stalks rising vertically from leaf axils (B). They appear from July through September. The green fruit is winged and triangular (B).

Common on the floodplain at both nature centers. Young plants grow vertically, looking for a host to support it.
