Gallinula galeata
(Rallidae)

14 inches long.  The Common Gallinule has a black head and neck with a red forehead shield. The red bill has a yellow tip. Back is brownish olive. There is white along the flanks. Legs and feet are yellow.

A very rare, casual visitor to eastern Nebraska.
