The Common Spring Moth has a wingspan of .75 to 1 inch. The forewing is mottled brown with large white patches in the inner margin and subapical areas. The hindwing is white with a wide dark brown border. The caterpillar is gray-green with black bands and a white subspiracular stripe.
The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. It was photographed at Neale Woods in mid-June 2016 coming to lights. It ranges from Quebec and Maine to North Carolina west to Ontario, Wisconsin and Arkansas. Adults fly from April to June. It is a day flier, but also comes to lights.
Larvae feed on black locust and honey locust. There is one generation a year.
