The Confused Meganola Moth has a wingspan of about 5/8 to 1 inch. The forewing is gray with black lines and dots. The dotted Post Median line curves around the faint reniform spot and continues to the inner margin. Several black dots make up the terminal line. The hindwing is grayish-brown. The larva is gray and black with white blotches and light gray hairs.

 

The frequency of occurrence at Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known. It has been photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center on July 23, 2013 coming to artificial lights and also in April 2015 at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center.

 

The host plants are oak and willow. There are 8 species in the genus Meganola in North America.
