This Conura wasp is approximately .25 inch in length. This tiny wasp is entirely reddish-brown. The abdomen has black bands. The males have a small, round petiolate abdomen. Females have a more elongate pointed abdomen. Two distinguishing characteristics of the Chalcid family are the conspicuously enlarged hind legs and the inconspicuous ovipositors of the females.

The frequency of occurrence is not known. The individual shown here was photographed at Camp Brewster in late July.

The majority of Conura species parasitizes butterfly and moth pupae. A few parasitize the maggots or pupae of flies and beetles, and some are secondary parasites of Ichneumon and Braconid wasps.
