This tachinid fly is approximately 3/4 inch (20 mm) in length. The eyes are large and dark reddish-brown. The thorax is black and hairy. The long cylindrical abdomen is black with dull red spots on the sides. The end of the abdomen is black with sparse long black hairs. The legs are dark.

 

The frequency of occurrence is unknown. The individual shown here was photographed in Fontenelle Forest in the fall. Adults visit flowers.

 

The larvae are parasatoids of adult stink bugs.
