The Disparaged Arches moth has a total forewing length of .75 inch. The forewing is mottled gray-brown with rust-colored patches. There is a weak black basal dash. The irregularly shaped antemedian line is double. The orbicular and reniform spots are light colored and outlined in black. The hindwing is pale gray. The caterpillar is reddish-brown with tan spots. The head has white coronal bars. It grows to 1.5 inches.
The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. It was photographed on 13 June 2016 at Neale Woods coming to moth lights and again on 11 June 2017 in the same location. Its range extends from central Alberta, Canada to northern New Mexico in the west and from southern Quebec and Nova Scotia to North Carolina and Mississippi in the east.
The larva is a generalist feeder. It feeds on many hardwoods including birch, oaks, huckleberries and serviceberry.
