DOUBLE-STRIPED SCOPARIA

Scoparia biplagialis
CRAMBID SNOUT MOTHS (Crambidae)

The Double-striped Scoparia has a total length of about .50 inch. The forewing is peppery gray with white zigzag Antemedial and Postmedial lines and black transverse patches. The terminal line is a series of white dashes. The legs are black with white bands.

 

The frequency of occurrence is not known. It has been photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in late August 2014. Adults fly from June to August and are attracted to lights.

 

The larval food is not known for sure, but possibly is roots and mosses.
