A medium sized katydid, about 1.5 inches (37 mm) long with long brownish wings. The thorax and abdomen are green as is the hind leg. Front two legs are yellowish. Eyes are pinkish and face is white. Ovipositor on female is brown with a strong upward curve.
Little is known about the distribution of this species in North America. It is known to occur in Nebraska, Oklahoma and Ohio. It probably occurs in the states in between. It may be uncommon in this area. It is generally found in fields and meadows from late summer to frost where the male calls during the day.
The Dusky-faced Meadow Katydid eats flowers and seeds of forbs, grasses and sedges. Occasionally is predaceous and cannibalistic. Eggs are laid in grass stems.
