This mushroom is 2-4 inches wide. It has a leathery, cinnamon-buff to tan cap with angular, grayish pores, descending down the stalk. The cap is circular to kidney shaped. The stalk is black at the base.

It is found on dead deciduous wood. This photo was taken in Childs Hollow. It is the only time it was seen in Fontenelle Forest.

Also known as P.elegans. It is sometimes called the black footed polypore because of the distinctive black base of the stalk.
