This is a bright yellow gelatinous fungus filled with liquid. It ranges from ½ inch to 6 inches wide and has no stalk. It has a round, convoluted body that is hollow.
This is a strange tropical fungus that has been seen in the U.S. near the gulf coast, in southern Illinois and in eastern Kansas and Nebraska. It is found on logs in deciduous woods, usually in the fall. In Fontenelle Forest it is rare having been seen once on a fallen log in Mormon Hollow.
Most jelly fungi are also gelatinous but are not filled with liquid.
