Platynota exasperatana
TORTRICID MOTH FAMILY (Tortricidae)

The Exasperating Platynota moth has a wingspan of about .50 inch. The forewing is light gray shaded with darker gray to black in the median and basal areas overlaid with black lines. There are pale blotches along the costa in the median area. Three thicker lines of raised scales cross the median area. The hindwing is variably light to dark brownish-gray.

 

The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. It was photographed in early September at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center. It occurs from Quebec to Florida west to Texas and Nebraska. Adults fly from July to mid September.

 

The host plants are unknown.
