This beetle is a beautiful metallic greenish color. The head is bluish green and there is a thin red trim around the elytra. It is about 1 to 1 inches long. It was identified with the help of experts at Bugguide.net.
This beetle is usually found in open areas such as fields and gardens near deciduous forests. This one was photographed coming to lights at Neale Woods. Its overall occurrence at Fontenelle Forest is not known. Adults will climb trees in search of prey.
Adults and larvae prey on caterpillars.
