FOUR-SPOTTED PALPITA

The wingspan is about 1.50 inches (37 mm). The wings are semi-translucent. The costa is brown to light brown. The forewing has 3 tiny black dots in the basal half and 1 black dot at the lower, outer corner of the discal cell. The hindwing also has a dark discal spot. There is a dark band just above the fringe. The thorax and abdomen are creamy white. The abdomen extends beyond the wings. The legs are banded brown and white.

 

The frequency of occurrence at Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known. It has been photographed at Fontenelle Forest in late July 2014 coming to artificial lights.

 

There is very little information known about the life cycle of this species. The only known host plant is privet.
