This plant has small white flowers with tinges of purple on its petals (A). They are found singly on long, developing ovaries (C), which later form siliques that split to bear small seeds (D) with tufts of white hairs (coma). The leaves are opposite with sparse teeth (B). One of the identifying features of this species is the color of the white hairs (coma) of the ripe seeds. We had help from Dr. Sutherland (UNO) with the identification.

One plant was found in October 2013 just off the boardwalk leading to Handsome Hollow of Fontenelle Forest. It was growing in water. This species had not been recorded in Sarpy County before (see Flora of Nebraska).
