The Garden Tortrix has a wingspan of .50 to.75 inch. The forewing is pinkish-brown with an oblique brown median band and a dark brown subapical patch. The larva is usually light green, depending on the color of the host plant. The head and prothoracic shield are yellowish brown. It grows to about 5/8 inch. This identification was confirmed by volunteer experts on the BugGuide website.
The frequency of occurrence is not known. It has been photographed at Neale Woods in early September coming to artificial lights. Adults fly from May to September.
The larval host plants are strawberry and other low plants. They prefer to eat dying leaves. The species overwinters as a larva under leaf litter. There are several generations a year.
