This tall, solitary tree (A) grows in Fontenelle Forest about 50 yards southeast of the Camp Gifford Road railroad crossing. It has strongly pendulous (weeping) branches. Unfortunately it lost most of its crown in 2008/9 (F). The golden branches and twigs (B,C,D) can best be seen in March and April from Stream Trail, from about 25 paces south of the road, when all the other trees are still a drab gray. Its leaves are green above and silvery below (E). This tree was probably planted during the first half of the 20th Century. Willows come in male and female trees. This one is a male tree.
