This beetle is fairly variable in coloration. It is mostly brownish and has dull reddish stripes on the elytra. It is about 6 mm 1/4th inch) long. The head is reddish with small eyes.

 

Adults feed on the flowers and leaves of goldenrod. We would expect it to occur commonly in Fontenelle Forest.

 

Larvae mine the leaves of goldenrod.
