The Grease Moth has a total length of .75 inch. The forewing is pinkish-brown marked with jagged black lines. There is a large black v-shaped bulge in the antemedial line and a black-edged discal spot. The area above the black dotted terminal line is light pinkish.

The frequency of occurrence is not known, but this moth is probably common. Several were seen and photographed at Fontenelle Forest at artificial lights in late August. Adults fly from June to August.

The larvae live mostly indoors and eat a variety of stored food, fungi and dead animals.
