HACKBERRY LEAFROLLER

The Hackberry Leafroller is about .50 inch long. The forewing is gray with rust color in the basal area and a wide rust-colored median line. The postmedian line is composed of black and white spots. The terminal is black dashes. The hindwing is plain tan. The legs are striped black and white.

 

The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. It was photographed on July 22, 2015 at Camp Logan in Fontenelle Forest coming to moth lights and again on 7 June 2018. Adults fly from May through August. it ranges from Ontario south of Florida west to Texas and Nebraska.

 

The larvae eat the leaves of Hackberry trees.
