The Hahncappsia mancalis moth has a wingspan of approximately 1 inch. The forewing and hindwing are pale tan or off-white with faint light, brown lines. The antemedial and postmedial lines are wavy and irregular. The subterminal line is fairly straight, diffuse and somewhat blurred. The basal two-thirds of the hindwing is semi-transparent. The legs and antennae are white.
The frequency of occurrence in this area is not known. It has been photographed in late June at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center. Adults most often fly in July and August.
The larvae feed on pigweed, mint, tobacco and dock.
