This beetle is almost one inch long. It is reddish brown and has stripes of white hairs on the elytra. Like other members of this genus its antennal clubs are greatly enlarged and have many segments.
Adults are usually active at night and feed on foliage, flowers and sometimes fruit. This one was photographed at the Wetlands learning center using artificial lights. Its occurrence at the forest is not known.
The larvae feed on the roots of shrubs and trees and can kill plants. Adults come to lights. Beetles of this genus are in the subfamily Melolonthinae.
