This caterpillar feeds on a variety of plants; this particular specimen fed on Figwort (Scrophularia marilandica). They come in two colors: light green as shown here, and light brown. Their heads are darker with three parallel, white lines. The adults have a wingspan of about 1 1/2 inches. They are dark gray with lighter spots.

 

The abundance of this species in our two nature centers is not yet known. They have two generations per year.
