This little slender Pyralid moth has a wingspan of about 3/4 inch. The forewing is mostly gray with black markings. The terminal line consists of a row of triangular black spots.

The larvae feed on developing seeds of Prairie Thistle (Cirsium canescens) within the flower heads. They probably feed on other thistles as well.
