15.5 inches long. The Hudsonian Godwit is a large sandpiper with a long bicolored bill that has a slight upturn. The breeding male has dark chestnut below with slight barring. The female is larger and more subdued coloring.

The Hudsonian Godwit is fairly common spring migrant in the Omaha area and less commonly seen in the fall. It is rarely seen in Fontenelle Forest and if so, seen in the wetlands particularly at the Great Marsh.

The Hudsonian Godwit migrates through the central United States in the spring and further east in the fall.
