This distinctively shaped treehopper comes in different color schemes. Its eggs and larvae are usually found accompanied by ants, usually Carpenter ants, who give them protection. Note the large eye on the front (left) end of this hopper. This treehopper is found on a variety of plants, often on plants belonging to the aster family.

The abundance if this species in Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known but it is probably common, just not often seen. This individual was photographed in Fontenelle Forest on 1 June 2013.  This treehopper ranges throughout eastern North America.  Nebraska is on the western edge of its range.

The Keeled Treehopper is the only species in the genus Entylia in North America.
