5.25 inches long. The Kentucky Warbler is a short-tailed and long-legged bird. It is olive-green above and bright yellow below. It has black on the face and sides of the neck with bold yellow spectacles. The black areas on the female are duller than in the male.
The Kentucky Warbler is an uncommon nesting bird in the Forest. However, it has been absent for some of the more recent years. It arrives in early to mid May and departs before September.
The Kentucky Warbler is most often seen in ravines or hollows. The song is “churry, churry, churry” somewhat similar to that of the Carolina Wren
