This moth has a wingspan of nearly 2 inches. Its coloration is variable, mostly dark tan with a black outward and backward line crossing both sets of wings. And both sets of wings end in shallow central points.
This common nocturnal moth comes to light and can be seen from July to September in our area. The caterpillar feeds on a variety of plants including maple and oak.
