5.5 inches long. The adult male Lazuli Bunting has a blue head, throat, and back. The breast is orange with a white belly. There are two white wing bars. The female is grayish brown above with a buffy breast that contrasts with a white belly. She also has white wing bars. The immature bird is similar to the female.

 

The Lazuli Bunting is a bird that breeds in western Nebraska but occasionally is seen in eastern Nebraska.

 

The Lazuli Bunting gets its name from the lazuli blue color of its head.
