This triangular moth has a wingspan close to 2 inches. Its folded wings are white with a black or brown, arrow-shaped pattern and edges. The forewing is variable as it can be marked boldly with black or it can be all white. Its head is a light yellow. The caterpillar is black with yellow striping and shiny, black warts.
This moth is common at both of our nature centers and can be seen from May through August.
The larval food plants are many herbaceous and woody plants, including apple, willow, spearmint and thoroughwort.
