The Light-ribboned Wave moth has a wingspan of 5/8 inch to almost an inch. The wings are dull orange. The forewing has wavy black lines with a broad, reddish-brown median band. The subterminal line is wavy and black. The terminal line consists of black dots. The colors are variable and can be very similar to the Dark-ribboned Wave, which occurs in the western U.S.
The frequency of occurrence of the Light-ribboned Wave at Fontenelle Forest and Neale Woods is not known. It has been photographed at Fontenelle Forest Nature Center in late June and early July. The adults are nocturnal and are attracted to artificial lights.
The larval host plants are not known. This moth is in the subfamily Sterrhinae whose members usually rest with wings flat and spread wide.
